Fun and Candid Mountain Wedding at Silvertip Resort in Canmore
A Wedding With Fun Canadian Traditions
Silvertip Resort in Canmore is one of my favourite Rocky Mountain wedding venues. When Alyssa and James reached out to me to photograph their wedding I was so excited. They came all the way to Canmore from Australia and brought almost 40 of their friends and family with them to enjoy all that Calgary and the Rockies have to offer in the summer and celebrate their wedding at Silvertip Resort. Some of my favourite Canadian features at the wedding were a caesar bar and an Australia vs. Canada trivia game called Shark vs. Bear where the guests had to guess some crazy facts about both countries.
From my extensive knowledge of Australia (watching many hours of Million Dollar Listing Sydney) I knew that Australians are super stylish and like to party. The wedding was a direct representation of my research. Everyone was dressed to impress and there for the party. Alyssa was an absolutely stunning bride in one of the most gorgeous dresses I’ve ever seen. Their day was so fun to be a part of and one of those days where everyone is having a great time in the moment which allows me to capture so many candid moments.
Cocktail Hour on the Patio at Silvertip Resort
Their cocktail hour was on the patio at Silvertip with views of the golf course and Rocky Mountain in the background. There was so much laughter, games, delicious food and cocktails flowing. Cocktail hour is one of my favourite parts of a wedding day and I try to help all of my clients plan a timeline that allows them to actually be there and enjoy it. For Alyssa and James’ day we had a first look and did all of their formal photos with the bridal party and family beforehand so that after the ceremony they could relax and have fun with their guests.
Relax and Be Present
One of the things that I loved most about working with Alyssa and James for their Canmore wedding is that they hired me based on my experience as a Canmore wedding photographer and then trusted me to do my job so that they could relax, be present and enjoy all of their guests that travelled across the world to celebrate with them. I do my best work as a documentary wedding photographer when couples and guests are just in the moment, not paying attention to me and having a great time. I’ve always got my eye on the timeline and the clock so I’ll guide everyone into through the day with ease, it’s a skill I’ve mastered after a decade as a wedding photographer.
