Calgary summer wedding photos in Fish Creek Park

The lead up

Last summer Noah asked me to help plan and capture his amazing proposal at Barrier Lake in Kananaskis. It was so emotional and special to be a part of. Jacqui said yes, of course, and I was so happy when they asked me to capture their wedding at the Lake House in Calgary as well. When I get the opportunity to really get to know my clients it’s so much easier to capture those documentary style photos because they’re comfortable enough to let me be a fly on the wall.

On the wedding day

Jacqui and Noah had a beautiful ceremony at their church and a stunning reception at The Lake House Restaurant in Calgary. They both have amazing style so I knew their wedding day was going to be super chic. There were so many thoughtful details, from the stunning florals, a wedding newspaper, to Jacqui’s absolutely amazing dress (which had freaking pockets!!!), to Noah’s cream smoking jacket every moment of the day was classic with modern twist. Their wedding party wore all black which I loved against the summer landscape. The girls wore Park and Fifth bridesmaid dresses which are my absolute favourite. If you’re ever in doubt while wedding planning, black accents always elevate the whole vibe of the day.

Embracing the fun

Sometimes when I hear there’s going to be a large wedding party I freak out a bit. It can be a challenge to round up a group of rowdy, often tipsy friends but it’s a challenge that I love. I’ve learned that with a large wedding party you just have to go with it and embrace the chaos. If everyone is having fun a few cocktails then it’s probably not going to work very well for me to direct them into formal portraits. But I love how I was able to cpature Jacqui and Noah’s bridal party just having fun, laughing and celebrating.

The Lake House Weddings

After almost a decade of being a wedding photographer in Calgary I’ve had the pleasure of shooting at the Lake House many times. I’m experienced with the venue and how to photograph the sometimes tricky light. I love shooting at the Lake House because they’re wedding experts. The team is amazing at executing a flawless day, not to mention the amazing food and drinks. The space is gorgeous and I love how the massive windows show off the views of the lake.
